Capturing the right moment in time when a person is at the peak energy of expressing who they are is an art form in itself. As important as technique is, ultimately the decision to take a photo comes down to instinct. Connecting the eye to the shutter button in a split second of connectivity.

Black and White

Black and white photography is the essence of the medium. Rather than color adding reality to the photographic image, black and white focuses on composition and the graphic quality and artistic appeal of grayscale, the visual impact which I admire and enjoy.

The Forest

The forest is my second home. I love the feeling of being surrounded by tall trees that are so alive with energy as well as providing a serene space for peaceful meditation. I try to capture this essence in my photographs. Besides being a place to hike, the forest is an expression of wonder.

Waterfalls / Fast Water / Creeks

Within the forest one often finds a waterfall or a creek. The rush of water after heavy rains provides a spectacular accompaniment to the lush forest setting. One can slow down the shutter speed to create a smooth ethereal look or increase the shutter to capture the bubbly, effervescent flow of water.

The power of the ocean, the resting place of the beach where the sea meets land. Sometimes intense, sometimes serene, sometimes a white sandy beach, sometimes rocky and barren. Dependent on the weather and the moon, always changing providing infinite variety to a photographer's creative eye.

The Mountains

The majesty of the mountains have long intrigued me which is why I moved to British Columbia. There is nothing as awe inspiring as the mountains rising above the landscape.

Sunrise / Sunset

Sunsets and sunrises are the most colorful times of the day inspiring romantics, poets, painters and photographers to capture nature's magnificence.

The American Southwest has always fascinated me with its geological monuments, ancient native ruins and miles and miles of desert.

White sandy beaches, pristine waters, fragrant flowers, warm trade winds, volcanic rocks, all bring reminders of time spent on Hawaii. I've visited all the islands at one time or another and always look forward to returning. Above is a sample of the images that I have captured.

Feel the presence

Wait silently with anything, and you will discover a new phenomenon which was always there, but of which you were not alert – not aware of it. Your mind will become completely silent as you feel the presence of the ever-living existence. You will be just a part in it, just a note in the great symphony. No burden, no tension...the drop has fallen into the ocean. ~ Osho
